I decided to make this Friday more productive by reading and doing what I dream about doing during the weekdays. I read this blog in Medium which is an app, that curates and presents the best blogs from around the world. The title of the blog is something which got my attention. It read like this: 'This is what I do before 8AM' and the blogger was Jon Westenberg. The tone of the writer is definitely non-preachy and it exhorts the reader to find his own footing when it comes to life and everyday planning. The last line of the blog echoes this idea "You need to live your own fucking life on your own terms".
Jon's daily routine is something based on the universal truth that everyone of us lead our life with a 'sense of organized chaos'. He says that he wakes up at 6 A.M with a feeling of hate. He just hates everything about life in that hour of waking up. He just waits for the 'hate fog' to drift away. He recommends making a list of ideas and things that will make waking up an exciting event. He thinks about Fugazi's new album and the books that he is reading. Atleast three times a week he tries to jog which is usually followed by a 10 minute meditation session. He talks about the 'sutra' he received from his counsellor who recommended to place every thought to that occurs on a leaf and watch it float away down a stream. Another tactic that he has developed is to away from the phone and the Internet. He says he has greatly enjoyed this 'offline moments in his life'
He concludes by saying that at the end it all boils down to the positive changes/choices that one makes in his life. It is like fighting a battle against my worst nature. It is quite normal to lose that battle a couple of days everyweek.
